Overview
Health and wellness coaching supports the university's continuum of care for student mental health and well-being by increasing availability of sub-clinical interventions, which decreases the burden on clinical services that are better suited to address more critical student needs.
The Vision
A certified Health and Wellness Coach providing individual student sessions embedded within each IUPUI school.
The Opportunity
A grant from the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) is providing funds to expand health and wellness coaching on campus through June 2025, including the cost of certification training for new coaches. As part of the grant, coaches report client demographics and session counts to IUPUI Health and Wellness Promotion for the remainder of the grant period.
Contact Eric Teske (erictesk@iupui.edu) to express interest in becoming a coach within your school.
Recordkeeping
Health and Wellness Coaching session logs for the grant are currently kept in a secure Teams environment, but we are in the process of setting up a Health & Wellness profile in AdRx. This will allow students to schedule and coaches to keep session notes on a platform similar to but separate from current advising interactions.
The Consortium of Coaches
An informal professional development group sharing best practices for coaching tools and activities, troubleshooting processes, and offering consultation and support to fellow coaches. IUPUI Health and Wellness Promotion currently hosts bi-weekly coaching roundtables to connect coaches involved in the grant project.
